Well we are all packed and ready to head for our IN home tomorrow morning-noon-ish. I surely hope no one gets us anything for Christmas. We've got the trailer packed pretty full as it is. We're praying for good weather, good drivers and a good little boy. See you all in a couple of days!!

On another note, my sister's birthday is today and it's not just any old birthday. Today she turned 30!!!! Welcome to the club!

Happy Birthday!! We Love you!

live nativity

Thursday, December 17, 2009

For the last two years I have been watching cars line up to see this live outdoor nativity scene that you drive through. A local church here in town does the whole production ----live animals, fires, Roman Guards and all. Two years ago it was held at the same time I was driving home for Christmas and I didn't have time. Last year, I had a 4 week old. I told Shawn we were going to see it this year for sure. I think that they do different scenes each year, because we were told this years play was from the three wisemen's perspective. What a very cool way to spread the real message of Christmas.

frosted cherrios

Frosting with our morning Cherrios!
Ok so I'm not giving him frosted Cherrios - he's already hyper enough - but there is frost outside this morning and he's eating Cherrios. Cheesy, I know. I opened the blinds this morning and the first thing that popped into my head was, snow!!! I'll take the frost for now:o) The way the sun was hitting the last few red leaves on our Japanese Maple tree was beautiful. Yes, they're holey and ragged around the edges, but they are so vibrant red, I hope they stay a little longer.

He's figuring out he can actually use those teeth in there.

More, please!

What do you mean we only have 4 more days until we go to Indiana??!!

Aaaaahhhhhh!!!!!

Yippeeeee!!!

Tired little boy

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

I'm not sure why this little boy is so tired this morning....maybe it's all the running around we've been doing, 0r because it's a cloudy, rainy day. He's been clingy and quiet all morning and then when we went to play in his room, he just laid down. Maybe going to one nap a day is harder than it looks. I don't know if he's going to make it to lunchtime.

We got the classic "sitting on Santa's lap screaming" picture today!!

How many more days?!

Thursday, December 10, 2009

I hadn't changed the blocks in my little days to Christmas snowman and when I did, I realized there are only 15 days! And we only have 11 days until we're in Indiana! Crazy! The past few years we've ordered gifts online and mailed them home, only to be rushed to get them all wrapped when we get there. One of my favorite things about Christmas is wrapping all of the presents.....and not in gift bags (although there are some really cute ones out there!). This year we bought a trailer (not just for all of Caleb's gifts:o) but because we can use it on all of our moves too) and since we have a trailer we had all of our presents mailed here and I've been wrapping ever since! Hopefully our Christmas cards will arrive this weekend and I can get those mailed out too. There's rumor that Santa will be arriving on base tomorrow by Harrier. We'd better not miss that!!

We tried to take some Christmas card photos this afternoon......
This is pretty much how it went:o)

It was a bit chilly this afternoon and we had to cover him up with my scarf:o)

Some of caleb

Friday, December 4, 2009

I realized I haven't posted very many pictures of Caleb's sweet face in awhile:o)
So, here's a few from this morning.

Ok, mom...if you don't get that thing out of my face, I'm just going to keep my eyes closed.
Or I'm going to twist my lips up.
I'm seriously going to throw this car at you if you don't stop!

a few of my favorite things

Wednesday, December 2, 2009

I can't believe it's already December 2nd! Where has this year gone? We haven't bought that first gift....guess we'd better get on that!
To start off the Christmas season, I'd like to share a few of my favorite things!
A few years back, while Shawn was at SERE School and I was staying with Janelle in Whidbey, we stumbled upon The Hallmark Channel and ALL of their Christmas movies. Now I look forward to this time of year, just so I can watch them again and again! Janelle called me this morning and said, "It's Christmas time and do you know what that means?" I said "No, what". "The Hallmark Channel"!!!! Then she proceeded to tell me that she can't find it at their beach house. Sorry Janelle. I have already watched a few of them and they are just as good as I remembered!

Another one of my favorite things, is the tree lighting at Rockefeller Center....which aires tonight!

I'm hoping that we'll be making another favorite things tradition as we head to visit Santa and paint him a cookies and milk plate and mug.

thanksgiving weekend

at Sunday, November 29, 2009

Sunday, November 29, 2009

The day after Thanksgiving we traveled down to Fort Macon and Atlantic Beach, ate lunch at Hooters, got surprised by a bouquet of flower cupcakes for my birthday and saw New Moon (again....just the girls!) After living here 3 years, we still had not actually toured the fort. Like all the other forts we've been to, this one was very cool. It was a little too cold for the beach, but Holly still got her feet wet (and her jeans). On Saturday we went to downtown New Bern for breakfast then to play some stick ball by the water. And last but not least, we got the Christmas decorations out and are officially counting down the days. Another few weeks and we'll be traveling home again. We are so glad so many of you were able to come down!
