Wrigley Pup

Yesterday we said goodbye to our sweet friend and loyal pup, Wrigley.  While we knew this day would be hard, it was much harder than we ever expected.

Amelia is Wrigley's sweet companion.  She wants to hug and snuggle him all of the time.  She cannot sleep without him and her heart is broken.
Caleb was Wrigley's Boy.  He loved to play rough with him, but would give snuggles every so often.
For all of their lives, he's been there.  Always there to greet us when we walked through the door.  Always eager to go for a walk.  Always eager to get any food we dropped or left laying around.

And now he's headed to Indiana, to hopefully make some more sweet kiddos just as happy.  If he wasn't going to stay with Drew, Holly, Elliott and Lorelei, I think this day would have been much harder.  We know that they will play with him, probably even more than we have been.  We know he's going to have a great yard and neighborhood to play in.  We know that they will love him too and we cannot begin to say Thank You enough!  We know how this will change their daily lives and we know it wasn't any easy decision.  We love you guys for taking him in for us!
We woke up today to a quiet house.  No Wrigley whining or running around for his breakfast.  His bed and bowls are gone and now there is a hole in our hearts for where he has been living for so long.
We love you sweet pup!  We are going to miss you so much!
Until the day we see you again!
Be good to your new family!

Happy Mother's Day

I had a great Mother's Day!
We went to church, where I was asked to speak on a panel about women (not just mothers).  My first instinct was to say NO! and run and hide...believe me, I tried to think of lots of reasons to back out (one of them being that I only had a one week notice!).  But, I didn't and it actually wasn't that bad.
After that, we headed to Luna Grill for lunch, then to the beach to watch other members of our church get baptized.  We ended up staying longer, relaxing and hanging with friends.
The kids showered me with cards and homemade pottery gifts.
I especially love the All About My Mom card I received from Amelia.
(Her bed isn't all that comfortable, so I'm not sure if I should take that as a compliment or not :-).
I am so very thankful for these sweet kiddos that make me Mom!

The kids know Wrigley is not coming with us, but it wasn't until last night that Amelia realized he would be leaving next week with Shawn to drive home to Indiana.  I think that maybe we hadn't explained the timeline to her very well.
The grief of not having him around for the next three years overtook her.  My heart breaks for them, especially her.  There was sadness in her eyes as she said goodbye to him (multiple times) at the bus stop this morning and my heart aches for this loss.
We are SO grateful, beyond words, to Drew, Holly, Elliott and Lorelei for taking him in while we're gone!
We prayed last night that we would be given a pet friendly house so that it might be possible to get him over to us.

For 33 weeks we hoped and dreamed about you.  We were unprepared to say goodbye to soon.  Although our grief lessens, the hole in our hearts remain.  Until we hold you again.

Sometimes thoughts of him will pop into my head and I will begin thinking about what it would like to have a 12 year old in the house.  I can't even being to imagine, but it would be nice to not have to wonder.

We love you, Brady!
