Gymnastics

Amelia did her fair share of running around at open gym today.
That is, until a couple of "big girls" got there and then she just wanted to watch them.

(Notice - there are no other kids watching…just Amelia)
After a lot of that, it was off to find bars of her own.

We did lots of flips (I'm sure I was doing it completely wrong) and she was having a blast.
I just found out that open gym doesn't go through the summer months, but that there are summer camps.  I think we'll have to sign up for those!

Dinner Time

Thursday, March 27, 2014

I think it's pretty cool how excited my kids get to help out in the kitchen (Somedays - somedays it's just easier to do it yourself:o).  Caleb is always eager to help…I mean, he does want to be a cooker!  Since it's nice out today, I decided burgers on the grill sounded pretty tasty.  He didn't want to get his hands all dirty, again, but I told him to just do it!
(In case you can't tell, there's chocolate all over his mouth from licking the brownie spoon:o).

Amelia got the boring task of washing potatoes.  She kept wanting to pull out more and more….we would have been eating potatoes for days!

Fishing Princess

I almost forgot that we went fishing again Saturday morning.  After dropping the boys off, Amelia and I went to get her a princess fishing pole.

She was one happy girl!

Eventful Weekend

Sunday, March 23, 2014

We had a busy and really fun weekend!
We started it off by getting the garden boxes all cleaned out and ready for seed…which will have to be after this week because they're forecasting a rain/snow mix and low 20's a few nights.

We went to the turtle park to play with Gavin and feed the fish and turtles.
On Saturday, we headed back to the gymnastics place for our friend, Jack's birthday party.

This morning I got some pictures of the squirrels that keep eating all of our bird food.  We thought that hanging it away from the tree would keep them out, but it hasn't.

Jumping from the feeder back to the tree after I scared it.
Today's birthday party was by far the highlight!
Caleb loved Sheppard's karate party and Amelia joined in the entire time too.

When we got home, we had to make a pad so that Caleb could keep kicking it like this one.

They even taught them how to play dodgeball, which was Caleb's favorite thing of the day!  At bed he said, "I really loved dodgeball!"
Then they played a game called Sharks and Minnows, where there was one shark under the tarp and they'd pull minnows in under with them.  It was a lot of fun!
They then got a break to watch one of the third degree black belt girls do a weapon's performance.  I loved watching their faces…Amelia did a lot of smiling and Caleb said a lot of Wow's!

Then they did the limbo and got a few of the dads out there.

 Time for cake!
The best part is that the karate company gave everyone there a 30 free membership just for coming to the party.  I'm pretty sure we'll be using that soon!  That or Caleb will be karate chopping and kicking us to death:o)

Fabulous Friday

Friday, March 21, 2014

Today is the kind of day where we could literally be outside from sun up to sun down.  But, we took a break from the outdoors and headed to, where else, Open Gym!
Amelia was in love with the rings today and pretty much stayed there the whole time.

Caleb found the "big kid" rings and was having a blast on them too, but also tried out the balance beam a few times.
Amelia is getting braver at what she will try.  All of the big kids love swinging from the bar into the foam pit.  She actually did it today.

And this blob is her falling in the pit!
After open gym, we headed to the park downtown.
We got to see the bridge go up a couple of times for sailboats.
We then almost sat on this guy all coiled up!  Can you say, Freaked Out?!!!  I looked it up when we got home and I think it's a  northern water snake.  It says they live near water edges because they eat fish.  If provoked, they can bite, but cause little risk to humans.  Oh, and by the way, they showed a picture of one eating eating a bullhead catfish!
We moved on pretty quickly and found the bears.

But at this point, I was just afraid another snake was going to surprise us, so we headed for home.  We have birthday parties to go to Saturday and Sunday and we may squeeze in the Mr. Peabody movie…..if we can pull ourselves away from the gorgeous weather!

Rainy Day

at Tuesday, March 18, 2014

Tuesday, March 18, 2014

The weather feels much like Washington's weather, which means, we're being lazy around the house.  This morning we worked on writing our numbers a bit.

We've also been working on sounding out words and he read all three of these sentences!  He said, "I know fox, because it's on the Kindle."
We're trying a science experiment.  We are making an egg shell disappear (takes 2 days), then we'll shrink the egg, then we'll make it erupt……outside, of course….can you imagine how bad that might smell?!  I'll have to let you know if it's worth all the trouble.
Then we went to Amelia's room to play with all of the new doll furniture Mamaw sent to her.  To which, Caleb says, "Mom, I wish she had a bigger dollhouse."
After that, it was off to Caleb's room to fight the dragons and dinosaurs, which is just for boys when they're having quiet time, but it's ok if me and Amelia play too.
We have friends coming for lunch tomorrow, so playtime is over and now it's cleaning the house time.  I think the weather's supposed to get a lot warmer and drier starting tomorrow, which is good because we have garden boxes to tend to and lots of seeds to plant.
