Here is July's belly picture and some pictures of Shawn and Wrigley putting the crib together. We decided to just use a dresser and nightstand we already had and try to find a crib to match. We completely lucked out, because they look exactly alike.

We also went to the Dave Matthews concert in VA this past weekend with Adam and Kimzey, so here's a picture of Adam sleeping (he had duty the night before) and a picture of Kimzey and I.

10 Things

Thursday, June 26, 2008

Since I've been challenged by Shannon to post these "10 things" I feel I must do it!! The rules were to take pictures of all of these things without cleaning or straightening up first...which as you will see, I should have done and lied about it later!

1) Favorite Destination: While I could think of a few (I loved our Caribbean cruise!) I must say that the place I miss the most is Whidbey Island!
2) Self Portrait: This was taken yesterday when I was home for lunch.

3) What are your kids doing right now?: Swimming around in his little safe haven (see post from 2 days ago :o)

4) My closet: Yes, I know it is messy!

5) Laundy Room: Again, Messy!

6) The Refrigerator: Not well stocked, but at least we've got the staples.

7) Favorite room in the house: I said living room, because our furniture is so comfortable and once we get everything finished, I think this room will look really great! (Pay no attention to the laundry that needs to be folded on the chair)

8) Bathroom: You did not specify whether that had to be "my" bathroom (which is, again, messy)...so I showed our guest bathroom (which is clean)!

9) The Kitchen Sink: Messy!!! What can I say...I work full time, I'm pregnant, have a crazy dog (and husband...haha!) and I just haven't been able to clean the house in the last week!

10) Favorite Shoes: These aren't my favorite because they're cute, but because they are soooo comfortable I have to say, I have never shopped at The Naturalizer, but I just bought 2 pairs of really cute, casual shoes and I'll be sure to go back!

Now I have to tag three more people.............

I choose Kelli Campbell, Becky Starnes & Heather Larson!!

(No pressure---only if you get a chance!)

SOME MORE FISHING TRIP PICS

at Thursday, June 26, 2008

Drew had a hard time holding fish without doing this crosshanded thing, but I can testify he didn't drop a single one.
This is a good look at our Boy in a Bubble.
We also found Elvis.

This was Cody's biggest fish of the week.

This is the main Lodge that we stayed in.
Some other Cabins on the Lake.

The Bald Eagles were very noble, as always.

This picture is of 9 year old Marshall "Mars" Freund, one of the Swamper boys.
This is the largest fish caught by anyone on the trip. (at least that can be proven)

I know most of you could care less about fishing with a new Capps Boy in the works, but here they are anyway.

Let the spoiling begin......

Swamper 2008- Pelican Lake - Orr MN

at Monday, June 23, 2008

Monday, June 23, 2008

This is my first attempt at this Blog thing so cut me a little slack. I wanted to share some pictures of my trip to Pelican Lake. The lake is in Orr, Minnesota, which is about 50 miles South of International Falls MN. This was Dads 10th year of going on the Swamper trip, as it is known. This was the first trip Drew, Cody, Dad and I had ever been on without Mom. (It only took 30 years, not too bad. ) Anyway, I don't have anything too profound to share, but I did want to show how beautiful this part of the country is and to share some pics of a great vacation. I will add some more later this week. Thanks to everyone who has allowed us to be a part of their lives through Blogging and I look forward to seeing you all real soon. Shawn.

OR A........

Not even half way...

I feel like the weeks are going by quickly...at least much more quickly this pregnancy than last. I'm sure that they're not, but I'm so much busier this time with work and the dog and gearing up for another deployment...which has been nice.

I have found myself wanting to just write my thoughts out on this blog, but have hesitated because of what I want this website to be. I want it to be a way for distant family and friends to keep an eye on us and what we are up to.....the fun stuff I guess. To start writing how I feel day to day may get a little boring. But, I decided to do it anyway. It's what I'm feeling and I'm not always the best at sharing that in a normal phone conversation. I guess this blog may allow me to open up a little more and let down that trait labeled "pride" and "I can do this all on my own and no one needs to help me" thing.

In the last month or so I have heard the lesson of Peter walking on the stormy seas to meet Jesus more than a couple of times. (Quick recap...Just as he begins his walk, Matthew 14:30, he sees the wind and waves and becomes afraid and begins to sink. He cries out for Jesus to save him. Jesus reaches out his hand and says, "You of little faith. Why did you doubt?") At the time, you think it's just what your class is studying or what the preacher decided to preach on. But then you realize Jesus is speaking to you. So many times since since then, this story has been brought to my mind and even more so in the last couple of weeks.

About 2 weeks ago, I realized "that's not gas I'm feeling....it's the baby moving!!" A very lady-like picture of me, huh?! And now that I have been consistently feeling the baby move and kick, I am starting to feel the anxiety creep in. When I'm not feeling him/her (hopefully next week we can just limit that to "him" or "her") I start to worry that something is wrong. And that's when this story is so much more evident. Like I am walking on the water until I see the storm (that is obviously, losing Brady and the end to a perfect pregnancy) and all of a sudden I begin to sink.

I had a hard time painting the baby's room and then buying a crib because I'm afraid that room's not going to get used again. I can't wait to find out if we're having a boy or a girl so I can buy things. But in the next breath I ask myself, what am I going to really buy...shouldn't I just wait until the baby's born? I've had to tell myself that I am not even at the half way point of this pregnancy and I need to focus my thoughts on God. I keep thinking, how many times can I give this pregnancy and this baby up to Him. I know it's all in His hands anyway, but almost everyday, I have to tell Him - I think to reassure myself that I mean it - that this baby is really His. Isn't it so easy to say that you have faith in God's plan for your life and for your baby's life. It truly is! I can say it all day long. And I know in my heart, I absolutely believe that! But, it is so hard to not know the outcome and whether you will get to watch this baby grow up. I might also have a control issue :o)

WOW!! I did not mean for this to become a book, so I'll end with my main thought. No matter how much I try to mask it, I think this pregnancy will be my "stormy sea". I know that He is holding out His hand, saying to me just as he said to Peter, " You of little faith". I know that we won't know the outcome of this pregnancy for another 23 weeks (man that seems forever when I type it out), but I know that no matter what, God loves us unconditionally and is faithful and is walking right there beside us offering us His hand.

With that, here's the latest picture of me and the growing belly and a picture of the animals Shawn's painted at the pottery place here in New Bern

Sing along if you know it...

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, A tale of a fateful trip that started from this tropic port aboard this tiny ship. The mate was a mighty sailing man, The skipper brave and sure. Five (Nine, in our case) passengers set sail that day for a three hour tour, a three hour tour.

We'll come back to that in a minute. Let me tell you how the day started out. Shawn was painting our bedroom and some friends called to see if we wanted to go boating. How could we say NO to that? We had already been invited to attend my boss' son's graduation party later that afternoon. So, our friends said that if we drove to the marina where they put in, they could drop us back off in time to get to the party. We got onto the water at 12:30 and we were to head back at 3:30......literally, a three hour tour.

There were seven adults and two babies who went out that day. Mike and Averi Kempf and their son, Sheppard, Heather and Pheobe, Adam and Kimzey and Shawn and I all set out on The Kempf's boat for Cape Lookout Island. We got out there and set up our little area...and might I say, we had a pretty nice set up. With all that we had and all the food we brought, we could have been out there all night (hint, hint).

Here's the guys (and Heather) getting the boat anchored in so we can enjoy the beach.

Here's our sweet little set up...which we will find out later is a good thing!

Sheppard sleeping and Pheobe with strawberries all over her.

Cape Lookout Lighthouse (Shawn took a thousand pictures of the lighthouse, but I decided you wouldn't care to see them all).

Shawn begged me to wear a two-piece...

Heather, Pheobe, Me, Kimzey and Averi

Please refer back to the first picture of the guys in the boat and then look at this picture of the boat. Do you see anything wrong with it?

So, everyone along the beach started leaving and we all assumed they were just tired and heading in. Little did we know, low tide came in around 3:00 and the boat was surrounded by sand. They tried to get the boat through it, but there was no way. We had some of our other friends, Joe and Kate, who owned a boat and were on another island beach come over to us and pick up the women and children (about an hour after this happenend). Mike, Adam and Shawn would all have to say out until high tide so they could get the boat out. Lucky for us, the women were prepared and we had enough food and towels to last for days. We weren't so much worried about them having to spend the night on the beach, but that they would now have to navigate their way home in the dark waters with a broken GPS and a hand held spot light. I got home around 7:15 (when we were supposed to be home around4:30 for the party ---needless to say, I didn't go to the party). High tide wasn't supposed to come in until around 11:00, YES PM! But thankfully, it came in a little earlier and they got out safely. Shawn got home around 10:30.

Don't we all need stories to look back upon? What an adventure we have to talk about now!
