Baker Lake Snow Day
Sunday, January 27, 2013
The thought that this is our last year here is starting to weigh heavy on us. We want to make sure we do and see all that we can before we leave the beauty of this place. We are trying to plan mini trips so we don't break the bank, but also so we don't leave saying I wish we would have done that.
So, since it was a torrential downpour on the island, we decided to head for the mountains, where the rain would surely turn to snow.
Ours are the only tracks in!
That is Baker Lake out there. It was snowing so hard, we were soaking wet when it was time to leave.
Getting Caleb's snowshoes on.
Amelia waiting patiently for her ride.
And off we went.
Giving Amelia a little turn on the snowshoes.
Kissin' in the snow.

Dad, trying to be cool, slid off the rock.
Ready.....
JUMP!!
We had an awesome day yesterday! I love being outside here, even when it's snowing so hard the camera won't focus on anything else. If I (we) had it our way, we would put a little cabin out in the middle of that clearing and live here......just daydreaming!
Beach Fun
Thursday, January 17, 2013
There was no way we were going home after school today. It may be cold out, but the sun is shining and it's been awhile since we ventured out to the beach. I loved how foggy it was, but could still see the trees through it.
Amelia wouldn't sit still and just had to climb on every tree Caleb climbed on.
I just found out from Caleb that someone new gets to hold the flag each time at school. So I asked him, do you know the Pledge of Allegiance? And he said yes! (I didn't even know they did this). He knows it pretty well and just needs a little help at certain parts.
Beautiful Drive
Sunday, January 13, 2013
We have had beautiful weather since Friday and we weren't about to sit around the house. It was too cold to go walk around Port Townsend, so we opted just to drive north, which we had never done before. We stopped in Birch Bay for a picnic lunch and got a breath taking view of Vancouver, B.C. and the snowy mountains that surround it. We have to get up there!!
And here are the kids watching as the tow truck backed up to our car.
That's right, we got towed home. 61 miles, and $260 later, (thankfully the tow truck driver had dvd players in his truck and the kids were able to watch Clifford:o), we arrived at the service department of the Chevy dealer and now we wait to hear if we it's something minor or if we need to rebuild the transmission.
