Today I am 18 Months Old!!!

Most of the time you will find me with my thumb in my mouth.
I love to be outside and I run everywhere now.
I will eat anything you put in front of me.
I am talking up a storm and probably say over 20 words.
I am still very much a drama queen and want things the way I want and when I want.
My personality is coming out more and more each day.
I will point to all of my body parts (here I'm showing you my eyes).
I love to snuggle and sleep with my favorite giraffe, Russ, every night.
I love to run to my daddy when he walks in the door each day.
 Caleb always makes me laugh.
I now weigh 20.01 pounds.
I am 28.9 inches tall and my head circumference is 17.95.
I may still be bitty, but am growing at my own pace.  It's hard to believe that in just six short months, I'll be celebrating my 2nd birthday!

This is what it sounds like to eat with us.  She hums or moans or whatever you want to call it anytime she eats.

The Sound Of Freedom

Tonight after dinner we headed out to Dugualla Bay to watch daddy fly.  This little valley is the perfect place to watch them come through as they practice their take off and landings.  And if it wasn't cloudy, you'd be able to see Mt. Baker just to the left.  This is one of my favorite little stretches on the island.
Caleb kept screaming, "Is that daddy?  Is that daddy?"  and pointing the Prowlers out when he found them circling around again.
After about 5 minutes, though, the cows became more interesting. (On a side note, I checked out that little house just to the left of the tall tree stump.  The pictures look so cute and for Whidbey Island it was pretty affordable.  I was ready to buy it...that is until Shawn reminded me how the Prowlers fly right over this house and it would be no fun listening to them all the time).

And then Amelia started zoning out.....
And this was about the time Caleb realized that "we're going to see daddy" didn't mean we were going to his work to actually see him.  That's when we called it quits and headed home:o)
Here's a couple of short videos.  I love the first one when Caleb is so excited to know if it was daddy.

Our Weekend

at Monday, June 25, 2012

This was a big weekend...I mean, it was our 10th anniversary.  But, as special as that is, you can only do something special if you have a babysitter.  And both of our babysitters just happen to be out of town.  So, we'll do our fancy anniversary dinner next weekend:o)
Friday night quite a lot of us got together to spend one last night with our friend and pastor, Jon and his family.  They rented out the local sightseeing boat for us all to go on and as you can see below, the weather didn't really cooperate.  But, rain or shine, we were going.
We had a little bit of shelter from the rain, but when the got up to full speed, it would spray in the sides.  Amelia acted like it didn't bother her any, but I think Caleb was frozen.  We will definitely have to go back out on a sunny, warm day.

Instead of always looking at the bridge from the beach or driving over it, we got to go under it.

We stopped by a few federally protected island and saw a lot of birds and a couple of seals.  We even saw a few harbor porpoises.
Caleb and Shawn looking for the Orcas - they never showed up.

We had planned on walking on the ferry on Saturday and eating a late lunch in Port Townsend for our anniversary, but much like Friday and maybe even worse, it was a torrential downpour, so we stayed in.  Sunday, though, was absolutely beautiful!  We went to church for Jon's last sermon and then headed to The Barton's for lunch.  There were four other families there and we sat outside and ate, and watched the kids play for the rest of the afternoon.  They were both so tired they fell asleep on the way home, but weren't ready for bed quite yet, so we made a small fire in the chiminea and made some smores.

After they went to bed, we skewered an apple, roasted it and dipped the slices in cinnamon and sugar.  Pretty darn good!  We have a busy week and then Cody and Daphne will be here on Sunday!  We can't wait!

10 Year Anniversary

Someday, when I'm awfully low,
When the world is cold,
I will feel a glow, just thinking of you,
And the way you look tonight.
Yes your lovely, with your smile so warm,
And your cheeks so soft,
There is nothing for me, but to love you,
And the way you look tonight.
With each word, your tenderness grows,
tearing my fears apart.
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose,
It touches my foolish heart.

Lovely, never ever change.
Keep that breathless charm.
Won't you please arrange it?
Cause I love you, just the way you look tonight.
Just the way you look tonight.
10 years ago, Shawn and I danced to that song just hours after we said, "I do".
Much more has happened in ten years than either of us could have expected.
But in all of our ten years of married life together,
I can honestly say, I would do it all over again...
Walk down all those same paths,
And maybe ask for just a couple of do overs.
I can't wait to see what the next ten years has for us!
