We had a good day today and the weather was just about perfect. Cloudy, breezy and only in the low 80's. After Caleb's nap, the wrestling was on!

Does it kind of look like he's strangling him? I thought so too.
Caleb also informed me today that Wrigley is "my Ligley". Pretty cute!

Cookies by Caleb

After a lot of this yesterday.......

I decided we needed a quiet task for today. So, our kitchen was transformed into The Capps Bakery. We made dad three different kinds of cookies and will hopefully get a few of them mailed out before the day's over. (That is if we don't eat all of them first).

(Notice the sprinkles in Caleb's hand. We didn't make any cookies that required sprinkles, but they were required to keep a toddler's attention. Eating them one by one out of a bowl takes a lot of attention:o)

Yes, the name game has begun. Why wouldn't you wait until you know the sex so your list isn't twice as long, you ask. Well what would be the fun in that?!

More Sprinkler Photos

Monday, July 26, 2010

You're going to get sick of our outdoor sprinkler photos, but it's literally so hot here, I don't plan on doing anything else! But, as time goes on and he gets more sprinkler time, he becomes more and more brave. Today he was actually drinking from it.

This is his GET IN MY BELLY pose!

Today

Friday, July 23, 2010

Today was pretty much the same as any other (minus the 2 hour scream fest at naptime - only 15 minutes at bedtime:o).
It involved a little bit of water...

A little entertainment...

A little Potato Head dress up...

And a little bedtime reading...

(The flash on my camera went out and it's only a year and a half old. I'm going to take it in next week and hopefully it'll be an easy and cheap fix!)

Fun at the Pool

Thursday, July 22, 2010

Let me just say that spending two months at home, where your child sleeps in a pack-n-play at a few different houses, is not good for when you get back to your own house. Oh how I dreamed he would remember this bed was more comfortable (and never moving) and go right back to putting himself to sleep right on schedule. But, let me just say, that's not happening. Not only is he not going to sleep on his own, he's doing that kind of hyperventilating screaming thing, yelling "mommy". Not to mention that even when he does fall asleep in my lap, I can barely put him in his crib because of my already protruding belly. I'm gonna have to figure something out here very quickly. He's not sleeping through the night either, so that means mom isn't sleeping through the night.
So, thinking maybe he just needed to be worn out a little bit more at night and since the heat index is reaching 103-108 all week, we went to the pool on base today. Of course, right when we got there they blew the whistle for everyone to get out.

And after we got home, I thought a little grass mowing would make him even more tired.

Yah, that didn't work either........guess I'm going back in to calm down a screaming kid.

Taking Inventory

I decided it was time to get out the tub of maternity clothes. For some reason ("in my mind" - inside family joke) I thought that I didn't have that many. But when I started pulling them all out, I realized I have way more than I probably need. So, I'm going to try to not buy anything...unless I absolutely need it:o)
I had a doctors appointment yesterday and everything went well. I have only gained a pound and a half...which means I can totally start eating more...just kidding! The baby's heartbeat was 150. And in one month, we'll be having our ultrasound to find out if we should start buying pink or if we should just use all of Caleb's stuff:o)

The Dancing Swifferer

at Tuesday, July 20, 2010

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

I'm not sure what happened to Caleb this afternoon, but after his nap he faded fast! It went from entertaining himself and making me laugh, to screaming and crying and whining mama, mama, mama repeatedly. I think he has some more teeth coming in, so I'm attributing it to that. And then, all at once, it was over when he found out dancing with the Swiffer Sweeper was pretty darn fun. I think I'll start a business...The Dancing Diaper Cleaner. Maybe he can make us some money!

Finally Home!

We got on the road around 6am yesterday and I was a bit tired. I thought that Caleb would fall right back to sleep, but that didn't happen. So, around 9 we stopped to grab some breakfast, feed Wrigley and change a diaper.
Now, let me just tell you about Wrigley's set up in the car. He has the rest of the back seat next to Caleb. The seat is folded down flat, so his bed, which has a sheet on it, can lay down perfectly flat and plump. The air conditioning vent is right in front of his face, so he doesn't get hot and if he sits up right next to Caleb, he can see out the front window or he can look out the side window. If I had to guess, I would say that he's the most comfortable on these long car rides. Anyway, we stop and get out and let him get a drink and eat his breakfast first. Then we walk him around so he can go to the bathroom. I didn't feel like making this a long breakfast for Caleb and I, so I decided to just go in and change his diaper and then drive through the drive thru. I put Wrigley back in the car. Remember, he has a full crate sized bed, with a sheet, in a car that has been running the air conditioning for the last 3 hours, he's just been fed and walked. Caleb and I get to the door of McDonald's and this old lady who is walking with 2 other people yells at me in a snooty way. "Are you coming right back?!" (I'm gonna go ahead and say she's one of those pesky animal lovers.) I have a diaper bag on my back and a baby in my hand, so I yell back, "Just changing a diaper." She then looks back and Wrigley sitting in the car - he does have that poor puppy dog face at all times - waves her hand at me in disgust and continues walking. I thought that was a funny story I just had to share.
Other than that, it was a long, long drive home, but Caleb was a trooper. I thought that I was against dvd players in the car for kids, but I'm rethinking that! He watched, I listened, to Fox and the Hound and Cars twice each and to finish out the trip, two Baby Einstein movies.
And when that fails, just give me a boring book about Jesus and he'll fall right to sleep:o)
We had a great time at home, spending way more quality time with family than we're used to, but it's nice to be back in the comforts of our own home.

Getting Ready to Head Home

Saturday, July 17, 2010

Today is our last day in IN. We've visited with all of my family the last couple of days, said our goodbyes and now begins the packing. Before we can put all of our things back into bags or clean up all of the toys that have been strewn around the house for the last two months, we have to cool off with Adarrah out in the sprinkler.

And now that Caleb is appaing and Adarrah is resting, I'd better put this computer away and get something done. Back to the east coast, our very quiet house and a list of things to look forward to:

1) Dr. appt. on Tuesday (14 weeks)

2) Halfway dinner in August

3) Finding out if we're having a boy or girl at the end of August

4) Hopefully finding out our next duty station in August

5) Seeing family again in September when I come back for a wedding

6) Shawn coming home in early November

7) Caleb's birthday in November

8) Thanksgiving and Christmas

9) A new addition to our family in January!!

THANK YOU !!

Thank you all for making this birthday a very happy one. I received so many great gifts and cards that I could not carry them all back to my room by myself. I appreciate all of the love and support you all have shown over the past 3 deployments. I also cannot thank you all enough for how well you have taken care of my family while I have been gone. You will never know how much easier it is to be away when you know that your extended family will not let your immediate family want for anything.

I hope you all are enjoying your summer and I cannot wait to see you all again very soon.

Love,

Shawn

PS. I sent some pictures to Elaine to add to this Blog, this is how I spent my 32nd Birthday.

Camping Trip

at Tuesday, July 13, 2010

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

This past weekend was an adventure! We went to a family friends' property to camp and had a great time. We did a lot of fishing, eating, hiking and relaxing.
Caleb waiting to catch his first big fish.
YEAH!
This is when he realized he was scared of fish!
Watching Papaw filet the fish we caught.
Shawn's cousin giving Wrigley his first taste of beer.
The turtle Andy caught three times.
Caleb pooped on the way home. He wouldn't let go of his book.
We are so thankful that despite the huge scare we had to end out the trip, my dad is home recovering, feeling well......and is now snoring loudly on the couch.
