Memorial Day Weekend

Sunday, May 29, 2011

This weekend is Memorial Day weekend, so we decided to head out to the beach.

It was also race day. Amelia got into the spirit and wore her black and white. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, you must not be familiar with a little thing know as The Greatest Spectacle In Racing!)

Here's our set up.

Amelia's first time at the beach.

In all of our cleaning and purging, we got rid of Caleb's beach toys. He had to play with our Dunkin Donuts cup and we got lucky and "found" two shovels:o)

Big Brother holding Amelia's hand.

Toes in the water, toes in the sand.

...How many different feet you meet...

I'm so tired. I'm so hungry. Please keep the sun out of my eyes.

And with that, I will be taking a nap here in dad's arms.

5 Months Old

at Sunday, May 29, 2011

Today I am 5 months old!

I am eating my toes all of the time.

I am still wearing 3 months clothes, but have started wearing some 3-6 months things.

I have rolled over a handful of times.

I love blowing raspberries and making a ton of spit bubbles.

I can grab almost anything - including Wrigley's ears.

I went to the beach for the first time today.

Last Day of Swim Lessons

Saturday, May 28, 2011

Thursday was Caleb's last swim lesson....well, they weren't really lessons...more like, playing in the water. They did help him get used the water though. He usually hated getting out of the water to go home and gets super excited when we tell him he gets to go swimming. By the end of the month long lessons, he was comfortable walking down the steps by himself, putting his face in the water and jumping off the side. I think these lessons will make this summer a lot more fun.

Jumping off the side was by far his favorite thing to do.

Rolling Over!

I knew we were getting closer and closer to Amelia rolling over.

This is what she looked like yesterday.

And then this morning she did it!!

And after she rolled from her front to her back, a few tries later, she rolled from her back to her front! Of course once she actually did it and I tried getting her to do it again for a video, she decided she was too tired to show off anymore. Yah, Amelia!!

One Year Ago

It's hard to believe my cousin David's been gone for one year. I hate that life got in the way of keeping us close after our high school years, but I'm so thankful for wonderful memories, too many to count. Although we were always in "cahoots" against the other cousins, I got my fair share too. I got pinned when wrestling, snowballs to the belly when he cheated and came out from his snow fort when I wasn't looking, the taking of toys he wanted, all the normal things cousins do. I also remember many sleepovers at his house, going to as many of his baseball games I could (maybe because I was trying to check out the other players:o) and I remember him not liking a few of my boyfriends....kind of like the older big brother, I never had. And I will never forget talking to him the morning his little girl was born - he sounded groggy and tired, but so happy and so proud. I will forever cherish that short, sweet conversation.

David will always be loved and will always be missed.

A Weekend Without Dad

As you know, Shawn went to Whidbey on Friday. I sent him with a list of houses, along with contacts in order to, hopefully, find us a place to live. One more thing to cross off our list before we move. He told me he'd find us a new house if I would sell this one. Haha! That's wishful thinking. So far...no luck for him and no luck for me. But he is having a great time getting reaquainted with the island. It was 48 and rainy there this morning. A far cry from our extremely hot mid-80 degree day. He had lunch with Janelle and her boys, Connor and Cooper...future friends for Caleb. He's having dinner with Mike, Averi and Shepperd tonight and dinner with Jon, Kristin and their girls on Tuesday (he's the pastor of Nate and Janelle's church and who baptized Brady after he was born). Only a couple more months and we'll all be back up there. I can't wait!!

Today we had my friend Jamie's baby shower. Ironically, her and her husband moved in down the street from us right before he checked into Shawn's squadron a few years back and we found out she's from Terre Haute and they both went to ISU. What are the odds? They will be moving before the baby's born, so we won't get to meet him. Thank goodness for Facebook:o) While Amelia and I were at the shower, Caleb got to go home with Adam and baby Gavin. I think he had a pretty good time and before bed tonight he said something that sounded kind of like "Adam is nice." I asked him if that's what he said and he said yes. How cute!

Tomorrow we are meeting up with a lot of friends to spend more time with Heather before she leaves next Saturday. All of our friends are leaving which is sad...but we'll be leaving soon too. It's just a part of this military life.

This is Amelia's favorite place to be when she's sleepy...and don't forget the thumb.Asleep in the stroller.
