Torchlight Parade 2012

We ventured out in the rain to Coupeville for their annual Torchlight Parade on Saturday night.  We did it last year and it was alot of fun.  I think the rain kept a lot of the people away, but we were bound and determined to get dressed up and get some candy.  Usually the firemen come, hand out flashlights and lead the way for all the children, but they were called out as soon as they arrived, so there were no flashlights, no sirens and the parade happened a little to quickly for us.  We pretty much missed it all and they only got 2 pieces of candy:o)  They didn't care though.  They got to play in their costumes and that's all they wanted.
Caleb has been talking about being a dragon for a really long time (and his birthday party is a dragon theme).  I'm not really sure where this came from, but I just happened to be walking through Old Navy and saw a dragon!  What luck!  I grabbed it off the hanger and now we have a dragon.

Amelia is obsessed with puppies!  If she sees one, she will scream puppy until you acknowledge she saw one and then she will continue to say puppy until you scream at her raise your voice and tell her, "yes, I saw the puppy".  So that was pretty much the only option for her costume:o)

Some of our friends met us there....Emma was Cat In The Hat and her mom and dad were Thing 1 and Thing 2 and her baby sister was Sally.  Pretty cute and Amelia loves Emma.  She goes around the house asking for her and says Emma perfectly.
As you can see we were the only ones in the street still seeking out the candy. (And she couldn't stand the puppy ears and pulled them off almost immediately.)
 Yeah, they found some!
They are pretty excited to go house to house on Wednesday.  Let's hope they get more than 2 pieces of candy.....mom needs some Halloween candy!

Apple Picking

Today we went apple picking with our friends, Averi and Sheppard.  The weather is turning colder and rainier, which means snow is already falling in the mountains!

Caleb and Sheppard off to find us some good apples.
 This one looks good, mom!
 And this one.
 Now for a little sample.

These are some good apples!
The sunset on the way home was awesome and there was even a very vivid rainbow over the Cascades.  There was no way I could pass up stopping for just a few photos on the way home.

 This place is spectacular!

Trick or TREAT!!!

Saturday, October 20, 2012

Caleb and Amelia invited all of their friends over to make fun Halloween treats.  We pretty much had a little bit of everything and most of the ideas I came up with were found on....where else.....Pinterest!

Caleb did have another mini marshmallow eye on there, but I think it's in his mouth.
Amelia only ate half of this cookie and maybe a few M&M's.  She's still working on getting her full sweet tooth.
As you can see, only about 10 sprinkles landed on the cookie and the other 1000, on her plate.
Her friend, Bella, who's plate (and mouth) are much neater:o)
 James' scary guy.
And now most of that little cookie guy he made is in his mouth.
Michael ate a few things, but I think he was just having fun making them.
And now all the kids have gone off to play and Caleb's still at the table....eating his treats....alone.
We ate some pizzas and homemade tamales afterwards to help counteract all of that sugar.  We had a really great time!

My friend, Leslie was a sub for one of the teachers today in Caleb's class and she just sent me this picture.  Caleb is not holding hands with his typical girlfriend, Kaylee.  No, he's holding hands with Megan....all while paying no attention to her and chatting it up with Emma.
Such the ladies man!

Pumpkin Patch 2012

Shawn will be leaving for a few weeks, so we headed out to get a pumpkin this past weekend.  He had heard great things about Schuh Farms, so that's where we went.  I went into this day with high hopes of happy kids picking out pumpkins, all of us dressed up so we could get some family photos.....needless to say things never really work out like I had hoped.

First up was to get a wheel barrow for the pumpkins we found.

Now it was time to find the perfect pumpkins.
Caleb kept finding ones, then throwing them down only to go find another one.  He finally settled on the smallest one he could find.

Amelia wasn't fond of the scarecrow and wouldn't take her eyes off of it.

Then we put funny faces on our pumpkins.

Thanks Great Aunt Trina for our funny faces!
