Holland Happenings Parade

Sunday, April 29, 2012

Saturday morning we got up and headed to the annual Holland Happenings parade.  It is also accompanied by a weekend long festival with booths, fried foods and carnival rides.  We took a walk through the crowded streets and decided to head for home and get lunch.
Everyone told us to get to the parade early because it gets crowed.  I think we may have gotten there a little too early.  That just let Amelia practice her walking a little more:o)
She wouldn't keep her hat down over her eyes and kept pushing it back like this...
I should have known something was wrong with Caleb when he was doing this the entire time before the parade even started.  Then, as we were watching the parade, he kept asking me if it was over yet.

I can say that this parade was a little long for my liking...especially in a little town like this.  But it was fun and good weather and as soon as I gave them suckers, they were fine.

Amelia is 16 months old today and I can FINALLY say, she is walking!!!!!
I was starting to get worried a bit, but it took her a couple of days (and me not looking) to get her up on her feet all by herself and walking around the house.  I know she'll be a happier little girl now that she can get to whatever she wants....and Caleb may become a little more irritated:o)

Amelia's New Favorite Word

at Thursday, April 26, 2012

Thursday, April 26, 2012

Amelia's new favorite word is "bye".  She screams it at all times and at everyone she sees.  So, here's a couple little videos of her saying it.

I decided to throw in these photos too because I thought they were funny.  Caleb went into hysterics when Amelia found his drink and proceeded to drink some of it.  She must have felt bad, because she immediately handed it over to him.

Poor Wrigley

Wrigley's walking a little slower today.
He had a fractured tooth, which they called a slab fracture.  Basically one whole side of his tooth was broke off and we're not sure how he did it.  It was down to the nerve so they said it needed to come out.   He was given pain meds, which would relate to Percocet in human meds.
Look at the size of that thing!!!  Caleb thought it was cool:o)

My New Favorite Thing

Awhile back my Aunt Trina sent me an e-mail with a really cute idea.  It showed a wall with photos of all three of their kids with a clock below.  The clock was stopped on the time each child was born.I've been wanting to do it ever since.

Finally, this weekend I broke down and went to buy all the supplies.  I did it Walmart style too.  The frames were $14.97 each and the clocks were $6.97.  I plan on taking some better photos when the time comes.  But for the time being, I think it looks awesome!

INSANE!!!

What have I gotten myself into?!
So.........
I am out of shape and don't have enough will power to go to the gym or run on the treadmill.  As I was drinking my coffee, watching the kids play last Sunday before church,  I realized Caleb was over doing what looked like push ups.  I asked him what he was doing and he said, "I'm exercising mom."  For some reason the TV was on this infomercial that I wasn't even watching, but I guess he was.  I started watching after that and decided I needed it!  Luckily my friend, Jamie (who lost 22 pounds on doing this workout) is a beach body coach, so I called her about it.  She convinced me to sign up as a coach too, purely for the coach discounts.  Since I am military all of the coach/business fees are waived and I get 25% off all products....which is a good deal when you see how much some of these cost.

So.........
I am officially a Beachbody coach now (which I could care less about) and I just started the workouts.  Luck for me, the first day is just a fitness test, which basically just showed me how out of shape I'm in.  I also bought the shake program they have too, called Shakeology.  I just replace one meal a day with one of their shakes.  I took all of my body measurements last night and my "before" pictures in a bikini.  I'm not really trying to lose 22 pounds :o), I just want to get into shape.

I'll let you know how it goes!

2012 Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

Saturday, April 21, 2012

Today we went to see the tulips!!  I don't think photos will ever do justice to just how beautiful fields and fields of tulips truly are.  They are beyond beautiful!  It was another perfect day, so we grabbed our friends, Averi and Sheppard and spent the day outside.

The only thing that's bad about this annual event, is that it brings people - and I mean by the thousands - in to visit from all around.  I know that Canada is less than two hours away from here, but you know these tulips are that good when people are coming from across the border.
And this was just one farm that we visited.  There are other farms in the area that have entire crops of different colored tulips.

Mt. Baker showing off it's snowy peak.
(Caleb in the car the other day says, "Mom, we love Mt. Baker."  Yes we do!)
Caleb and Sheppard weren't really into the flowers so much.  And he would never take off these sunglasses or his hat ("It looks like Daddy's) for a picture.
And really, Amelia wasn't either.  She wouldn't stand alone for anything and she wouldn't look my way even when sitting.

What the boys really wanted to do, was ride the tractor!

After we left the Tulip Festival, we headed in to local Mount Vernon for a street fair they were having.  We ate hot dogs, cheeseburgers, chips and ice cream.  It was a great day!

Just Me & The Sunset

at Friday, April 20, 2012

Friday, April 20, 2012

Tonight I had a few hours to myself.  The sun came out this afternoon, so I knew I was in luck for a few sunset photos.  I think I could sit at this beach (or any beach around here) for hours.  No cares in the world.  Quiet.  Water rushing over the already smooth rocks.  And then an occasional jet flying over :o)  It's just what I needed today!

Caleb & Amelia

Monday, April 16, 2012

Amelia finally gets to wear this cute little owl onesie Aunt Daphne (and Uncle Cody) got her for Christmas.

I thought I'd write a few things about what they are both up to right now.
 Amelia
Boo-ah = Book or bird
Bah = Ball
If you say, "where's the airplane", she'll look up for one.
She's really into biting things and will look at you while she's doing it.
(i.e. the couch, clothes, toys, and people:o)
She won't point to her nose, but she will wipe it when you give her a Kleenex and tell her to do so.
She needs to have whatever she's eating in each of her hands.
(i.e. bananas in each hand, toast in each hand, cheese in each hand - I don't know why).
Still refuses to walk on her feet, but will walk everywhere on her knees.
Can drink out of a cup. (Caleb was always horrible at this)

Caleb
Pretty much shoots everything.
(He holds his arm straight out with his hand in a fist and makes a shooting sound - is this a boy thing?)
Would rather pee on "the" tree in the backyard then go in the toilet.
(He specifically pees on the same tree every time).
Has found the phrase, "because I want to", to be his new favorite thing to say.
Never wants to nap, just says "relax on the couch and watch a movie".
Will be doing things and then say, "I can do this all day mom", like he's some kind of pro at it.

Because I want to story.....two night ago Caleb is yelling at me from the bathroom that he needs help.  I encourage him to try on his own and then I'll come help, but he then tells me that he's all wet.  So I tell him to take off his pull-up and I'll grab him a new one.  He proceeds to yell some more that he needs help.  So, I go in there, his pants are off in the corner, the toilet seat is not even opened and there is pee all over the floor.  And I mean a lake - how much has this kid been drinking.  I tell him to get out, throw the clothes out, move the potty chair (that he never uses) and the trash can out and get some towels and Lysol scrubbing wipes.  I get it all cleaned up and go out and ask him what in the world happened.  I said, "Caleb why did you pee all over the floor?"  He follows that by, "because I wanted to."  I made him put his nose in the corner for that and finished scrubbing the floor before I went back to get him  I told him to come here and asked him again why he did that.  I said, "could you not get your pants down fast enough ( I knew that wasn't true, they were off in the corner, remember).  I was really just trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.  He stands in the doorway, with his hand on the trim, does his little mischievous face, where his nose crinkles up and he said, "Because I wanted to!"  Off to bed he went.  It was 6:15.

Yesterday, somehow dripped yogurt on the table and thought using his yogurt cup as a stamp  putting yogurt marks all over the table would be fun.  I asked him what he thought he was doing and why he did it and I proceeded to get the same answer..."because I wanted to".  I threw the entire yogurt away, which threw him into a fit of rage and screaming and crying, which landed him in the corner again and no more food for the rest of the morning.

THREE IS FUN!!
