So......
Remember when I said we'd be moving to the camper today?
And that Shawn was already staying there last night to get everything ready for us?
Well, fast forward to 4:04am.
Shawn's sleeping soundly in the camper. The kids, Wrigley, and I are all sleeping soundly at the house. Until, at 4:04am, I hear a car alarm going off and it sounds pretty close.
Now, I read a long time ago, that if you're home alone you should keep your keys next to your bed. That way if you think someone is breaking into your house, you can hit the panic button on the key fob and hopefully scare the intruder. I always do this when Shawn is away.
4:04am. Car alarm going off.
I walk out into the living room, only to see my car lights blinking from the driveway. I peek through the blinds to see if I see anything. I don't see anyone, but my interior lights are on.
Ok, do I call 911? Do I just call the police?
I call Shawn first.
I let the car alarm go awhile longer to scare away the burglar and turn on the living room lights to show that someone's home.
Shawn's asleep and it takes him a bit to realize what's going on. I finally shut off the car alarm and try to lock my car. It won't lock - at least it won't do its car-horn-locking-sound. The light inside is still on too. Shawn finally comes around and says to call the police and that he's on his way - a 30 minute drive.
I call the local police and its a recording. I really didn't feel like listening to it. I mean, there could be someone lurking outside! So, I call 911. I have to grab a piece of mail to get the address.
"Ok ma'am, we'll send someone out."
In the meantime, the car still won't make its "I'm locked" sound, but the car lights go out.
Finally the police come - 30 minutes later. Good thing I wasn't trying to fight off an intruder.
The car doors are locked. They look at me like I'm nuts and tell me that maybe I have an electrical problem. Nevermind the fact that I locked it, twice - with the "I'm locked" sound - before I went to bed. Then one of the policemen asked me if that was a Subaru? I said yes and he said, "It might have been cheaper to have someone break into it, than to have an electrical problem".
I say thank you and apologize for the false alarm and then Shawn pulls into the driveway.
Their assessment took 5 minutes.
5:10am - Back to bed.
6:30am - Alarm goes off.
We have no food for breakfast (I've bern cleaning everything out).
Hurry, get ready, get in the car.
7:15am - Dunkin Donuts here we come.
Starting next week, we'll have to leave base at 7am, just to get to school on time.
I'm really tired!
