I love this last picture....can you see the spit hanging from is chin?!
I just found two new teeth!!! YAY! Their on the top, on either side of the front two. And they almost look like they's popped out towards the front instead of down. Is that normal? I guess they're baby teeth and will fall out sooner or later anyway.

Well, we've sat in the house for 2 days and that's about all I can take. I think I used to be better at being lazy. But, it's a nice day out and all the more reason to run to Target :o) Only a couple more weeks until I travel home and I'm really looking forward to that. Can you say "babysitter"? Just kidding, that's not the real reason I'm excited to go home, but it's part of it! I'm hoping the weather there will be cooler and the trees will be changing colors. And if not, well then, at least I'll be with family, in a real city, with real shopping, real restaurants....which leads me back to babysitters! HaHa! Oh yah, and because my sister just informed me there may be the possibility she can get her hands on some Notre Dame football tickets. If that's the case, I may have to cancel any plans I have already made. Sorry. I really don't see how I could pass that up!! I'm crossing my fingers! (Notre Dame, Boston College game. Notre Dame, Boston College. Notre Dame, Boston College. Wishfull thinking!!)

(This is the face I get on a regular basis!)

Here's a video for all who want to see Caleb.....but mostly it's for dad. I'll try to get more videos on here. Maybe ones where he's not showing off his new trick...screaming.

A lazy day around the house, while never getting out of our pjs, was just what we needed today.

Well....that and maybe a haircut! Dad said we have to wait until he gets home though.

I'm beginning to wonder if day play is getting too out of hand. He went to the kennel this week so we could go to VA Beach and when I called this morning to see if he was ready, the owner got on the phone to talk to me about an incident with Wrigley and a wimaraner puppy. It was way worse than I expected it to be.
Poor Wrigley!

Lots of fun with friends

About three things I was absolutely positive.
First, Edward was a vampire.
Second, there was a part of him - and I didn't know how dominant that part might be - that thirsted for my blood.
And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

You're probably wondering what in the heck.....I'll get back to that in a minute....:o)

We had a great time in Virginia Beach this week. Our first stop was to visit with some friends we met while in Corpus Christi. Sara had Hailey while we were there and she is now 7! They also have another little girl, Fallon, who is 4. So it was a treat to get to see them and see Hailey all grown up. We also saw Donna and her little girl, who turned one in August, Emma. I am really glad we got to see them and can't understand why this is the first time I've driven up to visit. It's only three hours away.

Then we headed on over to Janelle's. They will be here for the next year, so hopefully we can visit each other a few times. Our other friend from Whidbey, Sarah, drove over for the day with her two girls, Kathryn and Elizabeth. It was so great to get to see 4 friends all in just a few days! Caleb was a trooper and did pretty well. He tried to climb the chairs to the kitchen table while we are eating and caught himself with his face as he fell. He got a pretty nice goose egg on the side of his eye. I think he especially liked watching the boys play and fight and yell. One day, we too will get to enjoy the roughness of boys!

Elizabeth and Caleb eating snacks so we could get some pictures.

I love this one with Connor and Cooper playing in the background.

(Aww, mommy and Caleb footprints)

Making chocolate chip cookies, that I'm pretty sure Janelle and I ate about 3/4 of them.

I love Connor and Caleb's face here. Coop's the only one cooperating.

So, now back to the vampire thing! A year or so ago, these books - for teens, I think - came out. Then the movie of the first book came out. It was huge. Everyone loved it. Everyone kept asking me if I read it or telling me that I should. Some family even went to see it at Christmas time and said it was really good. Whatever, I'm not in to sci-fi, scary movies, movies that'll make me think too much and I'm really not into vampires. (Although I think Shawn and I's first movie together was Interview With The Vampire). Anyway, Janelle is like the biggest fan and spokesperson for a little book series and movie called Twilight. Everytime I talk to her she talks about it, tells me I HAVE to read them. Luckily, she had the movie so I agreed to watch it even though Shawn and I have skipped over that one a time or two when buying movies on demand. We watched it Tuesday night. Wednesday we went to Target and I bought the first book. Then Wednesday night, we decide to watch it again. I am totally kicking myself for not reading them or watching it sooner. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to buy the movie. And I already told Shawn that when we gets home we're going to watch it so that when the second one comes out in November we can have a date night and see it! Thanks Janelle, for helping me jump on the Twilight bandwagon!

Now, off to bed.....oh, maybe I'll just read one chapter first:o)

busy, busy week

Monday, September 14, 2009

We've started this week off very busy. I think that keeping busy while Shawn's away helps the time go by faster. Tomorrow we are off to Virginia Beach to visit 4 of our friends. Two of them, Sara and Donna, we knew in Corpus and Janelle and Sarah are from Whidbey. We'll stay there for a few days, come home, clean the house and then have 7 or 8 girls over on Saturday for breakfast.
On another note...everyone keeps saying they've seen bears here. I've yet to see one, so I still don't really believe it. But, that doesn't mean I want to see one....I mean, REALLY see one! We had a neighborhood meeting on Sunday and everyone was talking about the bear. I guess the neighbor two houses behind us had a bear in his yard and it jumped the 5' fence like it wasn't even there. A few people got pictures. I'd like to see them. Another lady said she has a 250lb. rock in her back yard and she went out one day and it had been rolled into another spot. A bear scratching his back, maybe? Anyway, we do live in the Croatan Forest and supposedly there are black bears in these woods. I'll let my neighbors have them in their yards. Stay out of mine!

Standing On My Own

at Thursday, September 10, 2009

Thursday, September 10, 2009

Within just a few tries and a few short stints, I am standing on my own....only to realize I'm standing on my own, then I get wobbly and fall back down.
First I have to find something worth standing up for....yep, there it is...all the way at the bottom. Let me stand on my tippy toes to get it.

Ok, ok, I think I got it. I'm going to just stay bent forward a little bit until I feel stable.

I got it! I'm pretty sure I don't even realize what standing actually is, but mom is taking a ton of photos and videos, so I must be doing something right!

Today I broke down and took the old Singer sewing machine to get looked at. And by old I mean about 5 or 6 years. I keep dragging it out and finding it still not working correctly, then putting it away...only to want to start using it again and finding out it's still broken. What was wrong with it, you ask? I'm pretty sure it was just operator error, but the guy did fix the tension on it too, so I'm going with that.
I may not be ready to make my dress for the Marine Corps ball, but straight lines on a new table runner was a great place to start.

lazied around with Dad in the hammock after a walk...

and played in the yard with Wrigley again.

So far it's been a great weekend.

Outdoor Fun!!

Shawn had a half day at work today and with the weather as it's been this past week, we couldn't pass up time outside. We headed downtown for lunch and some window shopping....which took us by my favorite fudge shop. And who can pass up fudge?! On the way back to our car we passed a cute little playground shaded by magnolia trees. We had to see if Caleb would like the swings. Of course, he did. He laughed and giggled and showed us his two little teeth the entire time. I think we loved it just as much as he did! I only wish I had my camera with me....I guess the one on Shawn's phone will have to do for today. After that we came home and let him run free in the yard with Wrigley. Maybe next time I'll go clean up after Wrigley first. I had to watch everywhere he went. Luckily for us, he pretty much stayed on the straight path to Wrigley and that only led to the birdfeeder. We hear the weather's supposed to be this great all weekend. Who knows what else we'll do outside the next few days!
