I promise to try to not get behind on the blog now that I'm working!
Jennifer and family came out for a visit for Adarrah's spring break. They arrived just after Shawn flew back into LAX, so he waited around, picked them up, and met us at a restaurant near by.  I pulled the kids out of school for the day and they were upset because they'd be missing all of the St. Patrick's Day fun at school.  Go figure my kids would be the ones who didn't want a day off of school!
Luckily, we got there a little early and found this great little park near the restaurant.

We met them at The Warehouse, which is located in Marina Del Ray, about 15 minutes from the airport.
Tired (of being held) girl after a long flight.

After lunch, we headed up to the Griffith Observatory to see the Hollywood sign.  What typically should take around 25-30 minutes to get there (from our lunch spot),  ended up taking almost 1 hour and 30 minutes.  LA traffic!  It was a little hazy, which made it hard to see the sign, bit that place is still worth it.

Typical teenager, on her phone, James Dean statue, Hollywood sign in the background :o)

The next morning, we packed up our things to head to Malibu.  It was foggy for most of the day, so we headed up to Pepperdine first, then the Malibu Yogurt and Ice Cream shop....in hopes of running into Dylan O'Brien (for Adarrah).  Sadly, there were no star sighting while we were there.
We stopped at the Malibu sign to get pictures.  When you read what the sign says (in the next picture), you'll understand why I love this one!
 Beautiful, trash :o)

This girl loved throwing leaves into the water.
 Photo bomb by Adarrah.
After that, we headed to El Matador State Beach.  The other times we've been there, there have been only a handful of people.  That day, it was packed, which made the parking situation terrible!

 That water is freezing!

My kids don't have a very high vertical.

We took Elise on a little walk and then decided to let her put her toes in the sand.

 She did not like it!

We had a great beach day!!

Last Soccer Game

Saturday was the kids' last soccer game.  They got trophies and their team pictures.  They are pretty funny!

I love this paper that Caleb brought home.  I love that he wrote he was a math master and his teacher confirmed it! :o). He loves math is pretty good at it.
So, a lot of stuff happened last week and I started a job today!
WHAT??!!
It was kind of a whirlwind after my last interview.  This one happened so fast that I didn't really even have time to think about why it wouldn't work, so I said yes.  I truly believe that it was all God.  I know that sounds strange when people say that sometimes, but I really do feel He let everything fall into place for this one.  We haven't even talked specifics (like hours I'll work and salary - kind of important :o), but I started today just by going in and getting back on the program I've used in the past to get reacquainted with it.  I really hope it all works out and if not, this is another step in the right direction along with getting me some more experience.

Snail Farm and Other News

at Monday, March 06, 2017

Monday, March 6, 2017

I was informed by the kids that we had a "snail farm".  I wasn't sure what that meant until I looked under a piece of furniture that was on the side of the house.  I'm not sure they would call them snail farms,  nor am I going to feed them and take care of them, but there were a lot of snails!  Honestly, I was completely enthralled by watching them.  I grabbed my camera and laid on the ground for like 30 minutes.  The kids were long gone and Shawn just laughed at me.  It was cool!  I did a little research on snails after that too and realized I should probably try to get rid of them when I start planting veggies.

I loved watching these three!  I assumed they were mom, dad and baby, but you know what happens when you assume.  Snails are both male and female and some self-fertilize and don't need a mate to have babies.  So, these may just be hitching a ride on the bigger snail.  I don't know or really care.  They were just fun to watch.

Caleb also lost another tooth yesterday.
Amelia is sure she has some loose teeth and keeps messing with them.  And Amelia's ear holes grew back, so no earring for her.
The girl who referred me for the job I interviewed for had me come in and meet her companies' owners and other designer.  She will be going on maternity leave in August and she's hoping I can just fill in for her while she's gone.  We have a few months to figure it all out, so we'll see.
Shawn is in Dayton this week and will get to see his parents for a couple of hours on each end.
That's about it for now.  I'll be adding a couple more recipes and interesting articles over on my food blog if you want to check them out.
