IN Girls Weekend in NC

Granny, Patti, Sharon, Christie and Hollie all came to visit us this weekend.  We had torrential downpours all day Thursday, but when they stopped, we ran outside to play in the puddles for a few minutes.

 Then we painted toenails.

 On Friday, we headed downtown while Shawn was at work.  

Caleb (and Amelia) got sharks teeth necklaces.

 We stopped by the Pepsi store for a drink.

 Then we walked over to the park to get a few pictures.

 After shopping all morning, we headed to base to get a tour from dad.

 Saturday morning, we headed to the New Bern Farmer's Market after breakfast.  Then we went to our friends', The Kempf's, for dinner.

 We spent their last day here at the beach.

We caught a ton of tiny little fish with our nets.  

 Tomorrow we all head out for Indiana.  See you when get there!

MERRY CHRISTMAS - In July:o)

IT'S CHRISTMAS!!

In July!

Today marked our 1st Annual Christmas in July Party!

Which means, we'll have to top this party at the 2nd annual Christmas in July party.  Which means, the real Christmas tree might have to come out next year:o)

The kids and I painted this tree last week in preparation.

Shawn even helped by making us a fire.  

 We made delicious  cupcakes.

 Don't you love this Pinterest idea?! Mini smoked sausages wrapped in crescent rolls (red pepper bow).  Perfect for kids!

 There was an ornament making station.

 

We had a snowball fight, while Elf played in the background.

 We decorated cookies.

 We even had a gift exchange.

We yelled "Merry Christmas" to all of our friends as they left the party.  I think it was a hit!

Hiking and Fishing

Around 9:45 Friday morning, I decided we were not sitting around the house anymore.  We got dressed, picked up some sandwiches from Subway and headed to Flanner's Beach to do a little hiking.  We took Wrigley to protect us from any wild animals we may encounter.

 On the way back from a short hike, we headed down another path that lead to a small beach…..with rocks!!!  Caleb was excited and climbed the entire time we sat there.

 After that, we ate our lunch and rested a bit, then we took a short walk through the campground to pick out a good spot for us.

 They were all pooped out!

 We went back home for a couple of hours and I still didn't feel like being in the house, so we headed to base.  We picked up a pizza and then met Shawn at Pelican Point to do a little evening fishing.  We still haven't gotten this salt water fishing thing down yet, but we did manage to catch...one.

 Yesterday, I had the e-n-t-i-r-e day to myself!  It was wonderful!  Shawn the kids did some yard work and then went to the Turtle Park, where we will always catch a hundred fish and that makes the kids happy:o)  

This may be the biggest one we've (she's) caught yet.

I almost forgot…last night around 11, Amelia woke up whining and crying, so I went in there to see what was wrong.  She was still half asleep and she just kept repeating (mostly because I thought it was funny and kept asking), I want a worm.  I want a worm.  I want a worm.    I guess she was dreaming about fishing:o)
