Sandy Beach

I recently found out that there was a "real" or sandy beach at the south end of the island called Double Bluff Beach.  Since it was sunny and Shawn had just left for an overnight hike/camping trip, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to go check it out.  It takes about 40 minutes to get there, but that's the perfect time to get in a little nap....for the kids, not the driver:o)  The beach didn't disappoint.  It was beautiful and we had a great time.  I even got sunburnt!

If you plan on getting any water in that bucket, you might want to get a little closer!  Don't let those blue skies and bathing suits fool you.  Just because it was 71 today, doesn't mean the water was any warmer.

 Playing together so nicely!
I forgot why I didn't like the real, sandy beaches.  There was sand in every crease she has.

Thank God for sunny, warm days in the northwest.

Forks & Falls

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

Of course, being so close to the home of Twilight, we had to venture off the reservation to check out Forks.  Let's just say, there's not much going on in Forks and if Twilight hadn't happened to that town, you'd probably just pass right through it without looking twice.

We also had to have a little fun with it.
I tried to get Shawn to play along, but this is about as far as he would go:o)
On our way back home we stopped at the Sol Duc Falls.  It was a pretty cool hike and it was a really cool waterfall.  There are also some hot springs somewhere around there.  Maybe we'll have to find them on our next trip.

To end out their visit, we had lunch in Coupeville and stopped at Fort Casey.
We weren't really sure how the barge and the ferry were going to avoid each other, but they are obviously seasoned pros at this and there was no collision.
We toured the fort and of course, threw rocks in the water.

We are so glad some more family got to come out and that we got to see some new things too.  We had a great time!  Thanks for coming out!

Taking Donations

Will Work For Money To Keep The Blog Alive!
I guess having the blog and posting all of our life adventures for free, for this long, was too good to be true:o)  Without going into all the details, I was basically told I have met my quota on the amount of pictures I have posted and unless I purchase more storage space, I cannot post another photo.  I did a lot of research yesterday and realized there really isn't any way around it.....unless I want to stop the blog.  Don't worry.  That's not going to happen.  I'm going to decide how much storage I think I need to purchase today and then I'll get more pictures from our vacation posted ASAP.
(FYI:  I'm not really taking donations....It's only like $5/month:o)

La Push Beach, Quileute Indian Reservation (Part 1)

This past weekend we headed to the coast.  We rented a camper from base and got on the road, to what we thought was going to be a really cool place.  It turned out to be absolutely gorgeous!
The campground was right on the beach and this was our view.
Massive trees like this one littered the beach.

Had to play up the fact that we were on the Quileute Indian Reservation (the wolves from Twilight:o)
There were tons of surfers and I really like the next three pictures because they show just how big the waves were.

We hiked down to one end of the beach and a few climbed these rocks.  I stayed at the beach with the kids, but was told I had to go look at the purple starfish.

How cool are these?!!  They were definitely worth the climb.

Shawn flying the kite.
Then these crazies put their feet in the water.  It was freezing!
Amelia wasn't stupid though, she would stop just before her feet hit the water.

Caleb, of course, fell in and got his pants all wet...so we stripped him down to his skivvies.

They put their feet in the Pacific Ocean.
Caleb peeing:o)
A little teeter tauter.
Eating dinner at our fire on the beach.  We made three beach fires over the weekend.

This is by far one of my new favorite places!!
