Knott's Berry Farm

We decided that since we couldn't take an exotic vacation (just the two of us) to celebrate our anniversary, Knott's Berry Farm would have to do!
I have heard about Knott's Berry Farm since I was little.  My grandma would go out to LA to visit her sister and always bring us trinkets back from there.  I was excited to finally visit it!
We got there just as the gates opened and the crowd was just what we had hoped for.  None! I think that since Disneyland and Universal are so close, most people visit those instead.  That was fine with us.  We probably only waiting over 30 for 3 rides, the entire day.  It was perfect!

The kids didn't want to ride the wooden roller coaster (Bitty was too short anyway), but maybe the next time we go, we'll be able to coax them on it.
The first area we visited was the Ghost Town....which literally was a ghost town because there were no people there.
We stopped in the school house, where the teacher asked Caleb to deliver a package to the dress shop.
 Delivering the package :o)
Next, we took a ride on the old steam engine.

Thankfully, we told the robbers we didn't have any money so they left us alone.

After that we took another train ride though the mining caves and rode the log ride (which was all of our favorite!).
Dad and Amelia rode this little rollercoaster, which ended up being a little scarier than it looked.

There were so many rides that just went around in circles....
I am getting too old for rides that go around in circles!
We found our way back into the Ghost Town, so we hopped on the stagecoach.
We were lucky and got to ride on the top, which gave us great views of the park.

Shawn rode this one below by himself.  I think that amusement parks should have childcare for the adults that want to ride rides together.
Caleb and I rode the swings....again with the going around in circles.
Dad and Amelia rode the carousel and decided to ride on the pigs.
Next, we rode the salsa dishes, or sombreros, I'm not sure what they were, but I was done with going in circles after that one!
I love this picture of Bitty!
We made our way around to Camp Snoopy and more of the kid rides.
They got to ride the swings by themselves.
Laying down in the Linus Launcher.

 Charlie Brown's hot air balloons.
They really liked the mail drop ride!

Amelia flying the plane (Caleb was too big to ride :o).

We were all pooped by the end of the day!!

They got put in jail on the way out.
We stopped in a couple of stores and got some famous Knott's Berry Farm jam on the way out.
I would definitely go back to this park!!  We had a great time (and sshhhh, we liked it way better than Legoland)! I think it was a great way to celebrate our 15th anniversary!

Father's Day Weekend

Our weekend started out with a visit from our friends, The Plots!
They are moving to Monterey and just happened to be passing through for the night.  We spent the even evening with them at our house and then met up with them for breakfast before they headed out.  We are so excited that they will be living so close to us again.  We are already planning our first trip there!
Amelia began running a fever Friday night, so after breakfast we went home and Shawn and Caleb went to church to help with a little spring cleaning.  We must have all needed a lazy day, because afterwards, we ALL just laid around, watching TV, reading, napping etc.  We did absolutely nothing the entire day!
Sunday, Amelia and I stayed home and the boys went to church.  We grilled out some veggies and soy Italian sausages for lunch (which tasted like the real thing...and were made with eggs...so not really vegan:o).  Caleb wanted to make a go cart, so they spent the rest of the afternoon in the garage turning a dolly into a go cart.
We love you, dad!!!

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!

The picture on the left is the first day of school and the picture on the right is on the last day of school.

Yes, they wore the same clothes as the first day :o)
(I asked them and they were really excited about it!)
You can see how they've grown, which makes you realize it's all going way too fast!

Caleb will move on to third grade in the fall.
He has done so well in 2nd grade! He's made a lot of friends and gotten wonderful praises from his teacher.
Amelia graduated kindergarten and will move on to 1st grade. She hopes that all of her "girl" friends will be in the same class as her next year!
We were able to attend her promotion ceremony this morning and celebrate all she's learned this year.

Amelia and her wonderful teacher, Mrs. Morgan.

We are so proud of all they have accomplished this year in this new place at this new school!
  Now bring on SUMMER!!!
