Sing along if you know it...

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, A tale of a fateful trip that started from this tropic port aboard this tiny ship. The mate was a mighty sailing man, The skipper brave and sure. Five (Nine, in our case) passengers set sail that day for a three hour tour, a three hour tour.

We'll come back to that in a minute. Let me tell you how the day started out. Shawn was painting our bedroom and some friends called to see if we wanted to go boating. How could we say NO to that? We had already been invited to attend my boss' son's graduation party later that afternoon. So, our friends said that if we drove to the marina where they put in, they could drop us back off in time to get to the party. We got onto the water at 12:30 and we were to head back at 3:30......literally, a three hour tour.

There were seven adults and two babies who went out that day. Mike and Averi Kempf and their son, Sheppard, Heather and Pheobe, Adam and Kimzey and Shawn and I all set out on The Kempf's boat for Cape Lookout Island. We got out there and set up our little area...and might I say, we had a pretty nice set up. With all that we had and all the food we brought, we could have been out there all night (hint, hint).

Here's the guys (and Heather) getting the boat anchored in so we can enjoy the beach.

Here's our sweet little set up...which we will find out later is a good thing!

Sheppard sleeping and Pheobe with strawberries all over her.

Cape Lookout Lighthouse (Shawn took a thousand pictures of the lighthouse, but I decided you wouldn't care to see them all).

Shawn begged me to wear a two-piece...

Heather, Pheobe, Me, Kimzey and Averi

Please refer back to the first picture of the guys in the boat and then look at this picture of the boat. Do you see anything wrong with it?

So, everyone along the beach started leaving and we all assumed they were just tired and heading in. Little did we know, low tide came in around 3:00 and the boat was surrounded by sand. They tried to get the boat through it, but there was no way. We had some of our other friends, Joe and Kate, who owned a boat and were on another island beach come over to us and pick up the women and children (about an hour after this happenend). Mike, Adam and Shawn would all have to say out until high tide so they could get the boat out. Lucky for us, the women were prepared and we had enough food and towels to last for days. We weren't so much worried about them having to spend the night on the beach, but that they would now have to navigate their way home in the dark waters with a broken GPS and a hand held spot light. I got home around 7:15 (when we were supposed to be home around4:30 for the party ---needless to say, I didn't go to the party). High tide wasn't supposed to come in until around 11:00, YES PM! But thankfully, it came in a little earlier and they got out safely. Shawn got home around 10:30.

Don't we all need stories to look back upon? What an adventure we have to talk about now!
